About Neil Shearer
My name is Neil Shearer, and for the past decade, I have been
dedicated to capturing the essence of athletes, dancers, and models
through my lens as a commercial photographer. For those new to
my work, let me share my journey and the passion that fuels my photography.
Established - 2004(ish)
My story began two decades ago when I travelled to Brazil.
Eager to capture the vibrant sights, colors, and emotions, I purchased my first camera, a Nikon F80 film camera. That initial trip ignited a lifelong passion for photography, and I still cherish the photos taken that are still displayed in my home.
Transitioning from a career as a scientist in a lab to a successful photographer and fulfilled artist, I have always sought to fill a creative void and produce the art I love. Whether photographing dancers or products, I meticulously plan each concept, ensuring nothing is left to chance. The moment I look through the viewfinder, I enter a state of flow, where the world fades away, and my sole focus is framing the perfect shot.
This creative journey resembles a train ride to unknown destinations, with each photograph representing a new station, revealing unexpected beauty. I embrace the uncertainty of where my creativity will lead, trusting the process and following my instincts. I prefer to carve my own path rather than follow the crowd.
Today, I balance client projects with personal shoots, creating both art and advertisements, always in pursuit of the next great image. When not behind the camera, I value time with family and friends and enjoy running, often with my dog. It is the perfect way to de-stress, clear my mind, and inspire new creative ideas.
